In 2021, HomePlate’s founder, Zach Suh, began cooking more at home to support his family as his mom balanced a full-time job while caring for his grandmother. It quickly became clear that her nutritional needs weren’t being met at the level they wanted. They searched for high-quality, culturally familiar meals that supported real health conditions like sodium control and chronic disease, but most options felt overly clinical, heavily processed, or disconnected from the flavors of home. They needed food that was both medically thoughtful and emotionally meaningful, meals that reduced stress for caregivers while preserving dignity and joy for seniors. Out of that experience, HomePlate was born.
